Dendrocalamus Latiflorus

Dendrocalamus latiflorus or commonly known as Taiwan Giant Bamboo or Sweet Bamboo is a densely tufted, sympodial, and evergreen bamboo originally found in East Asia specifically in Taiwan. The culm can grow up to a height of 25 meters and diameter of up to 20 cm

Habitat
Dendrocalamus latiflorus grows well in moist, sandy (well drained), loam fertile soils in areas of high rainfall
Suitable pH: acid, neutral and basic (alkaline) soils. It cannot grow in the shade. It prefers moist soil.

Uses:
Young shoots, 7 - 25 days after emergence are edible as vegetables, harvested when they are 35 - 60 cm tall. Other uses include: timber, basketry, rafts for fishing, water pipes, furniture, bamboo boards, and paper making
