Habitat
Dendrocalamus latiflorus grows well in moist, sandy (well drained), loam fertile soils in areas of high rainfall
Suitable pH: acid, neutral and basic (alkaline) soils. It cannot grow in the shade. It prefers moist soil.
Uses:
Young shoots, 7 - 25 days after emergence are edible as vegetables, harvested when they are 35 - 60 cm tall. Other uses include: timber, basketry, rafts for fishing, water pipes, furniture, bamboo boards, and paper making
