Uganda is among 12 developing countries effectively participating in a seminar on bamboo industry and green economy development for developing countries sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce, People's Republic of China, and organized by the China National Bamboo Research Center.
The three-week seminar hosted by CBRC in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, China started on 3rd July 2023 and is expected to end on 23rd July 2023. It is the first in-person training organized by CBRC on bamboo since the social disruptions brought about by the Covid 19 pandemic.
The Seminar focuses on several important issues such as a brief introduction to China's national bamboo situation, understanding bamboo taxonomy and comprehensive utilization, cultivation theory and technology of high yield sympodial bamboo, physical and mechanical properties of bamboo timber, high value-added utilization of bamboo materials, and the harmonious development of Zhejiang's social economy and ecology under the guidance of the "two mountains theory".
The seminar has a rich blend of lectures, field visits, and many more cultural and social engagements aimed at imparting valuable knowledge and skills to the participants while at the same time giving them a great opportunity to appreciate the traditional Chinese culture
