TO ALL MEMBERS AND FRIENDS OF UGANDA BAMBOO ASSOCIATION (UBA)

WELCOME MESSAGE FROM THE SECRETARY GENERAL UGANDA BAMBOO ASSOCIATION

I Salute you all and welcome you to this Uganda Bamboo Association website which has
been developed as a platform for people interested in bamboo to share information about
bamboo propagation, bamboo growing, technology and techniques for making bamboo
products.

Allow me to express my profound appreciation to all those who have subscribed to the
membership of this association. Although the Association is still in its infancy, it offers great
potential for green economic growth and eco system Health. UBA is set to implement
programs that will include sensitisation of community members and leaders on the benefit
of bamboo, different products that come from bamboo, bamboo product markets and will
work towards the expansion of bamboo resources to industrial proportions.

The Association is a membership organisation and membership is categorised at different
levels Vis; Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum, The membership criteria depend on the level of
participation in the activities of the Association including the anticipated benefits to the
individual members or the association. Kindly refer to the membership criteria at this web.

UBA is supported by the International Network of Bamboo and Rattan (INBAR) based in the
People's Republic of China and Bamboo for Good (B46), an organisation implemented by
Makerere University in the faculty of Social Sciences. The Association also collaborates with
NFA, UIRI, National Tree Seed Centre, National Agriculture and Forest Research institute
INAFORI) and other organisations and is designed to contribute to National Wealth though
affiliation to the Government of Uganda's Operation Wealth Creation. The ensuring Green
Economic growth will boost individual and national wealth as well as environment health
through it activities that regenerate degraded ecosystem and stabilise fragile areas such as
wetlands and mountain slopes.
